This Autumn, David Morris debuts Frozen Kiss, a new fine jewellery collection inspired by Rodin’s masterpiece, The Kiss.
A contemporary celebration of love, micro-set diamonds whirl around round diamond centre stones, locked in an eternal embrace. When The Kiss was first unveiled in 1882, it caused a furore, with Rodin’s sensually carved bodies considered radical and provocative. Today, the sculpture is an international icon, recognised all over the world for its raw and honest portrayal of love.
The designers at David Morris decided to work exclusively with round brilliant cut diamonds, the quintessential gem with which to honour love. Interpreting the languorous yet taut embrace depicted in Rodin’s masterpiece, rows of micro-set diamonds spiral around one-carat diamond centre stones, with the pure, sculptural lines bending and curving, creating a vortex of energy that captures the inexorable pull of love.
Frozen Kiss launches as a collection of five jewels; a ring, stud earrings, double bangle, torque necklace and pendant. Most in debt to Rodin’s masterpiece is the torque necklace. Featuring two diamond kisses that meet at the collarbone, the tension of the curved lines reflects the strong chemistry that goes hand in hand with love.
“Frozen Kiss captures those moments when you are overwhelmed with love and you just want to bottle that feeling,“ says Jeremy Morris, CEO & Creative Director at David Morris. “These pieces are for modern-day lovers to wear and give as tokens of adoration, appreciation and respect.”
